Turning a manual wheelchair into a platform for possibility.

PAWE began with a practical question: why should powered mobility be heavy, difficult to transport, or out of reach? Marzoratti and his collaborators answered with a removable system shaped through prototyping and direct community feedback.

Portable Affordable Wheelchair Enhancer

PAWE is designed to attach to a standard manual wheelchair and add powered movement without replacing the chair. Public descriptions emphasize portability, removable power, customizable controls, and the ability to fit into an ordinary vehicle.

Early PAWE prototypes used donated robotics parts and a donated wheelchair. Limited resources became a reason to test quickly and learn deliberately.
